Pagatim.fm
Pagatim, the Latin word for “in a village manner,” inspired the creation of Pagatim.fm, an online radio network founded to support intentional, authentic living. It is our mission to cultivate brave conversations, seed true communities, and stumble towards the authentic life.
Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Pagatim.fm combines on-line internet radio programming with live events that create a safe environment through which to share honest and open conversations around the joys and challenges of living “in a village manner.” It is our goal to continue the paradigm shift towards a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle.
The seed for Pagatim.fm was planted in February 2009 via programming that focused on progressive and conscientious parenting. Seasoned broadcasters, husband and wife team, parents of two young boys, hosts and founders – Todd and Laura Mansfield – launched the network’s debut show, Parenting Unplugged. In just four short months, one show a week expanded to three. Soon thereafter the network also diversified with Dads Unplugged, hosted by two dads from very different backgrounds, Todd Mansfield and Kent Lewis; and Single Parents Unplugged hosted by two single moms, Dominique Roberts and Patricia TenEyck, who intentionally co-parent with their ex-husbands. In addition to the parenting programs, Pagatim.fm now also produces Free Range Meditation, a daily meditation show hosted by Todd Williamson, founder of Om Base Yoga Studio and creator of Bliss Yoga.
The History & Philosophy
Pagatim.fm was conceived by Laura Mansfield out of a desire to include her husband, Todd, as an equal partner in raising their two boys. Mission accomplished! It was also designed to connect, educate and support parents and their communities in modeling authentic conversation around family and parenting. It is our intention to rewrite the parenting handbook to include the importance of being a self-aware parent who intentionally guides their children, to the best of their ability, towards being compassionate and engaged adults. We know that parenting is a journey and that we are all human and we all do the best we can with the tools we have. So, our hope is that Pagatim.fm engages parents from all walks of life in conversations that results in new tools that can support us in being more aware in our decision making with our children.
Personally, our goal is to “walk the talk” and live an “authentic life,” where we integrate our work, our love, and our passion for education and family.
We firmly hold to the adage “it takes a village to raise our children.” In order to flourish as parents and citizens of the world we trust and acknowledge that we are all interconnected. By creating Pagatim.fm we are trusting in the power of the collective, of the “Village” and we are committing to living our life “in a village manner.” We believe that we all have to build community: based on interdependence and collective wisdom. Aunts, uncles, grandparents and chosen family are all vital to a healthy social eco-system. This includes those who don’t have children of their own, but who are vital contributors to their community and who serve as wonderful examples to the next generation.
